This was a long week. This was a short week.

Yesterday I had a sensation I never had before, or I can't remember. My eyebrows were hurting. Really hurting. Yesterday it was -15 and windy. Today in the morning -17, but no more pain. I remember my first year in Finland the winter was the coldest I ever experienced, -29, still I don't recall that I had eyebrows pain. (can you call it like this) Weird feeling! The frost if biting!

This week I finished some drawings, 2 new patterns, a new portfolio. I'm happy.

Thursday was a wonderful opening at Kiasma. It felt like family, being in a gallery not like in a big museum. Olav Christopher Jenssen's paintings and sculptors. I have to say the sculptors...well I didn't find the way to them, or they didn't find their way to me. Paintings did. T liked them a lot too and chose a favorite. We also had a chance to meet the artist and talk for a short.

Why paintings are paintings? Paintings= pain things?
-
There is a friend of mine who always finds the words and they find her! (me on the other hand hardly ever. what a contradiction that this post is only text)
-
I'm dreaming of boxes, paint and pen, paper and scissors, they are my words.

Have a great weekend!
pain things (i love that!) - a quote from Vonnegut for you:
ReplyDelete"I think - I think - it is somehow very useful, and maybe even essential, for a fine artist to have to somehow make his peace on the canvas with all the things he cannot do. That is what attracts us to serious paintings, I think: that shortfall, which we might call 'personality,' or maybe even 'pain'."
(even if i dont find the words all the time, i can always borrow some from others)
